Other Announcements

May 01, 2018

From the Library:

  • Our Spring Reading Challenge is in its final week! Students match the first lines of books to their titles, and then see if they can stump us with their own pairings. All participants will be invited to a celebration breakfast later in May.
  • As we enter the final full month of the school year, there are important dates to keep in mind regarding circulation. Seniors’ library materials must be returned no later than May 21. All other students can have library materials out through June 1. Students are invited to stop by the library to check their accounts. We do allow students to check out books over the summer, and details will be forthcoming later this month.

Parking News

The gravel lot on the front side of the building has now been released to us from our Design & Construction team!  Therefore, on 4/6, we were able to extend parking to 40 more students (24 seniors and 16 juniors) who had been part of our lottery system this year.  We anticipate this parking will be for the remainder of the year, although if an unexpected situation happens around renovation, the possibility exists that we would need to modify this plan.  We still have juniors on the waiting list and are hopeful that a second gravel lot will be built in front of the school to accommodate them (and others).  For any additional students who want to be added to this list, please turn in a parking application to Mr. Brown in the Security Office.  For any questions, please contact Mr. Brown, Security Specialist, at jvbrown@fcps.edu or Mrs. Hudson, Assistant Principal, at aahudson@fcps.edu

Applications for student parking for school year 2018-2019 will be available to students in June.  More information on the application process will be available in May/June.

HHS PTSA Information

We are now in the 4th and last quarter of this school year.  This is the time to look for new volunteers to get involved with our school and our community.  The PTSA is in need for a treasurer, but anyone interested in serving on the board are welcome.  The HHS PTSA work to provide connections between students, teacher and parents.  We offer mini-grants to teachers, scholarships and achievement awards to students as well as appreciation events for staff.  If you are interested to learn more about being on the PTSA board, please contact:

Food for Neighbors

Help  Make A Difference In Teen  Hunger

Food For Neighbors is an all-volunteer organization committed to helping local teens struggling with hunger. To date we have collected and distributed nearly 20,000 pounds of food. We currently help feed over 650 students at 9 area middle and high schools.

With your support, we can reach even more students in need. Participation is as simple as filling a Food For Neighbors Red Bag once every other month and putting it on your porch on our pick up days. We provide the bags, a desired food list, and pick-up date reminder texts. Please register as a Red Bag Donor today at: https://www.foodforneighbors.org/red-bag-program/
