Our Newest Hornets

We are pleased to announce the newest members of the Herndon High School staff! Please welcome:

Jamila Alarcon - Assistant Principal (Students Guz-Maz)

Mrs. Alarcon comes to us from Justice High School. A former Spanish and ELL teacher, Mrs. Alarcon most recently served as a Dean of Students. Her interactions with students, staff, and families are warm and positive. You’ll see plenty of passion from her! She just moved into our community as well and is so excited to be a Hornet. While we miss Dr. Gillespie dearly as he moved up to FCPS Central Office, we think you’ll be as pleased as we are to welcome Mrs. Alarcon in his place. She starts her journey at Herndon High School on Monday, January 31st – just in time for the 2nd semester.

Mariela Bradley - Finance Technician

Mrs. Bradley lives in our Herndon community and has been the Finance Tech/Principal’s Assistant at Dranesville Elementary for 18 years! She is not only a long-time Herndon resident, but a Herndon parent as well. She is a people-person, solution-oriented, bilingual, and is a quick learner. She’ll be working closely with Mrs. Liebenstein during her transition into retirement. Mrs. Bradley’s first official day will be February 14th.

Danitza Vasquez - Family Liaison

Mrs. Vasquez has a vast work background in client services and customer care.  Her empathy, adaptability, and patience will be tremendous assets as she works with our families.  Mrs. Vasquez has a warm demeanor which helps families feel comfortable asking for assistance, information or resources. We are delighted she will be working alongside Mrs. de Barrios and Mrs. Torres in the Main Office and in Student Services.

Martha Torres - Family Liaison

Mrs. Torres has an extensive work background in the medical field as a staff nurse and case manager.  In this capacity, she worked to provide assistance and support to ensure quality care and positive outcomes.  Mrs. Torres knows how to build rapport with families while maintaining productive working relationships with colleagues. We are happy she will be working alongside Mrs. de Barrios and Mrs. Vasquez in the Main Office and in Student Services starting January 25th.
