Student Parking Information
Parking regulations apply to the school parking lot. It is both the student’s and the parent/guardian’s responsibility to know and understand the information contained in the student parking agreement packet. Below is the procedure to apply for student parking at Herndon High School for school year 2024 - 2025.
This year, students will be required to register online using the Parking Application Google Form. Starting August 5th, 2024, students will be required to pay ($200) for their parking by using My School Bucks (MSB). A hard copy of the parking application will be available on school website as well. Once you have made your payment you will need to print out the application and complete all the necessary information and turn it in when you are scheduled to pick up your parking pass along with a copy of your driver’s license.
Students will be able to pick up parking passes on the following dates:
- Seniors – Wednesday, Aug. 14th, 2024 from 1pm – 3pm
- Juniors – Thursday, Aug. 15th, 2024 from 1pm – 3pm
- Seniors & Juniors Friday, Aug. 16th, 2024 from 10am -12 noon
Students who qualify for free lunch ($20) or reduce lunch ($100) must bring a check or money order for the amount they qualify for. Check or Money Order should be made out to Herndon HS. You must attach a copy of documentation that states that you qualify for either free or reduce lunch to your application. Payment for free and reduce lunch qualifiers cannot be made on My School Bucks
- Carefully read and complete all the necessary parking forms. There are informational sheets along with three separate forms (1-4) which must be completed and returned to Herndon High School. Return only the portion of the forms that say “Security Office Copy” at the bottom of the page. You may make a copy of the forms for your own personal records.
- Any funds collected as payment for parking will be deposited immediately. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, please clearly note this on your parking application, it will be verified, and your parking fee adjusted. Checks and Money Orders should be made out to Herndon High School.
Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be considered.
Applications containing false information will result in the loss of parking privileges with a forfeiture of any fees paid. Parking permits are non-transferable and are assigned to the student listed on the parking application (one name only). If a student transfers his/her school parking permit to another student, both students will lose parking privileges with no refund of any parking fees.
Students are not guaranteed a parking space on school grounds or any area.
Parking on school grounds is a privilege extended to students in good standing. Students with ongoing/serious school discipline infractions, school attendance violations, or who violate the law may be denied parking or have their parking privileges rescinded at any time. This includes students who are habitually late for class. Students that are absent or tardy to class regularly, may have their attendance record reviewed by an administrator. Students found to be in violation of the HHS attendance policy could have their parking permit suspended for a period or revoked for the remainder of the school year. The administration reserves the right to revoke/suspend parking without warning in cases that need immediate attention. When student attendance records are reviewed, both excused and unexcused tardiest/absences are considered.
All parking fines and any other school related fees/dues must be paid in full before parking spaces are assigned.
All financial obligations to the school must be satisfied prior to a parking permit being issued. This includes but is not limited to all past due parking fines (parking fines are due within 30 days of the violation), library fines, and debts from lost school materials (textbooks, calculators, etc.). Students can apply for parking but must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license at the time parking permits are issued in late August. In order to pick up their parking pass, students will be required to attach a copy of their valid Virginia driver’s license (paper temporary license is acceptable).
If you choose to carpool with other students, it is at your own risk. If a student in that carpool violates the HHS parking policy, the parking pass will be suspended or revoked for the entire carpool.
Security will issue parking permits to SENIORS on Wednesday, August 14th between 1:00pm-3:00pm. JUNIORS on Thursday, August 15th from 1:00pm-3:00pm. All grade levels on Friday, 16th from 10am-12n. The above 3 days are the only days and times students will be allowed to pick up their parking permits before the first day of school. Students who have not picked up their parking permit prior to the first day of school will not be allowed to drive to school until they receive their permit. Students who fail to pick up their parking permit on the scheduled days, can get their permits during lunch time in the cafeteria.
Do not drive to school until you have your parking permit in hand. You need to properly display it in your vehicle.
If there are any questions, please contact the security office during normal school hours 8am to 2:30pm at 703-810-2399 (Jack Brown, Security Specialist).
