Welcome to the Herndon High School's Central Source for Information

Our Mission

The HHS Library encourages life-long learning, a love of reading, and the ethical and effective use of information through our welcoming, guiding, teaching, learning, reading, thinking, reflecting, creating, searching, researching, purposeful information space.

Our Policies

  • Our library circulation system, Destiny, gives students some control over their library accounts.  Please visit the “How to...” section of our Blackboard course for tutorials on maximizing your usage!

  • Books check out for three weeks. Students are encouraged to renew books before the due date.  A book that is not returned is marked lost 30 days after the due date. Students are billed the replacement cost of the lost book.

  • If we do not have a book that you need, we can often arrange to borrow it from other FCPS schools. Please see any member of the library staff for help.

  • Passes are required to visit the library during the school day except for class visits accompanied by a teacher. No passes are necessary before or after school.

  • The Herndon HS Library provides access to databases on a variety of topics and instructional levels. To use the databases outside school, passwords can be found on the Herndon HS Library Blackboard course. Please see a member of the library staff if you do not have access.

  • Students are requested not to have cell phone conversations in the library. Please step outside the library to make or receive calls.

  • Students are expected to treat library materials and equipment with respect, push in chairs, and dispose of their own trash.
