Congratulations to the Herndon High School Guitar and Orchestra students for their award-winning performances at Friday’s Festival of Music competition held at Norfolk State University.

 The Herndon Orchestra won 3^rd place and received an Excellent rating in the String Orchestra category.  

The Herndon Guitar 3 Ensemble won 2^nd place and received an Excellent rating in the Guitar Ensemble category.  And the Herndon Guitar 4 Ensemble won 1^st place and received a Superior rating in the Guitar Ensemble category.   The latter achievement marks a 20 year streak of consecutive Superior ratings earned by our top Guitar Ensemble at Herndon High School with no exceptions!

In addition to their musical achievements, our student musicians represented themselves, their families, our music department, Herndon High School, and Fairfax County Public Schools with class, style, professionalism, and honor at all times.  They made positive and lasting impressions on everyone we encountered including our chaperones and bus driver, the hotel staff, the competition judges and staff, and Busch Gardens personnel.  It is with great pride that I share the list of participants below and celebrate their contribution to the ongoing success story that is Herndon Orchestra and Herndon Guitar.   Please congratulate these accomplished students:

additionally to performing at the Wilder Performing Arts Center of Norfolk State University with the Festivals of Music competition on Friday, students spent one night in an ocean front  hotel in VA Beach and a full Saturday in Busch Gardens where the awards ceremony took place and before returning to Herndon.
