Congratulations to our District Band students!

All Virginia Band and Orchestra auditions were recently held virtually. Students were eligible to audition by ranking at the very top of their sections across Northern Virginia. Congratulations to our kids who made the state level ensembles!!

College & Career Center

All of these events will be held virtually again this year. Normally all, except WPLEC, are held on college campuses giving students a bit of an abbreviated college experience. 

Herndon Writing Center

Over the past week, our Herndon Writing Center tutors have participated in the Secondary School Writing Centers Association's 9th annual (virtual) conference, "From Crisis to Creation." We were very proud to have several tutor groups presenting asynchronously via FlipGrid this week, and we were thrilled that two of our presenter groups were chosen from over 80 proposals to present live via Zoom.

If you teach any of these tutors, please congratulate them! They have worked incredibly hard to shift our entire writing center online, and in doing so, they've developed really exciting new ways that our center can serve HHS students, even once the pandemic is over. It's easy to feel like this is a "lost year," but when we see all that our tutors have done, it's clear that in many ways, this year has challenged us to think creatively and try things that we didn't imagine were possible. It's been a quiet year in the HWC, but it's been a good year.
