Virginia College Application Week was a success!
What a fun week! Crazy & exhausting, but the stats say it all. We had a great time sharing in students’ excitement as they submitted multiple college apps all ahead of the Early Action deadlines!
Stats attached, but here is a summary:
- 240 student visits to a College App Lab during VCAW week, Oct 21-25; (some students came multiple times)
- 112 students completed the state-wide VCAW survey.
- Based on completed surveys:
- Students submitted a total of 361 college applications during VCAW.
- Participating in VCAW saved HHS students approximately $20,000 based on a $55 average application fee; FYI - app fees range from $50 - $75.
- 20.5% identified as a first-generation student (meaning their parents did not complete college).
- JMU, UVA, VT received the highest number of applications in that order.
- Followed by CNU, VCU, GMU, ODU, WM in that order.
- Keep in mind GMU Direct Admit students have a separate process not included in VCAW
- Marymount and Shenandoah were leaders within the private VA schools.
