Welcome to the Herndon High School's Central Source for Information

Our Mission

The HHS Library encourages life-long learning, a love of reading, and the ethical and effective use of information through our welcoming, guiding, teaching, learning, reading, thinking, reflecting, creating, searching, researching, purposeful information space.

Our Policies

  • Our books check out for three weeks. We charge overdue fines at the rate of 10¢ per day per book. To avoid fines, students are encouraged to renew books before the due date.

  • We are happy to arrange to borrow books from other FCPS schools whenever possible. Please see any member of the library staff for help with an inter-library loan.

  • Passes are required to visit the library during the school day except for class visits accompanied by a teacher. No passes are necessary before or after school.

  • The Herndon HS Library provides access to databases on a variety of topics and instructional levels. To use the databases outside school, passwords can be found on the Herndon HS Library Blackboard course. Please see a member of the library staff if you do not have access.

  • Library computers are intended for educational purposes only. Students should be aware that library computers may be monitored.

  • Students are requested not to have cell phone conversations in the library. Please step outside to make or receive calls. Cell phone use is prohibited during Stinger.

  • Students are expected to treat library materials and equipment with respect, push in chairs and dispose of their own trash.
