Welcome to the Herndon High School's Central Source for Information

Notice: We hope you have enjoyed reading your library books from last year and are now ready to return them to the library. You can drop off your books to Herndon HS at your convenience during normal school hours.

Our Mission

The HHS Library encourages life-long learning, a love of reading, and the ethical and effective use of information through our welcoming, guiding, teaching, learning, reading, thinking, reflecting, creating, searching, researching, purposeful information space.

Need to know

  • Curbside services now available!

Need a new read? Want to hold a ‘real’, printed, book? Log in to your Destiny Discover account and place up to five (5) books on hold. We will let you know via your email when they are ready for curbside pickup.

Do you or your siblings still have FCPS library books at home? We can help with that,  too! We can take books from any school in the district and get them back to their rightful place.

Curbside pickup and/or drop-off of books is scheduled at HHS every Monday afternoon between 12:00 and 3:00. Please call 703.810.2309  when you arrive so that we know to come down.

Can’t get here on Monday afternoons? Email us at @email  so we can confirm an alternate block of time between 7:45 and 3:15 Monday through Friday.

Want to drop your books off closer to home? You can take them to your nearest school building or even the public library!

Is transportation an issue? Call or email us to make other arrangements.

  • The Herndon HS Library staff is here, virtually or in-person, every day!

You can reach us by email, by phone at 703.810.2309, or online during virtual office hours via the library Blackboard course at the “HHS Virtual Library” (see schedule below).

  • Our library circulation system, Destiny Discover, gives you control over your library account.

Please visit the “How to...” section of our Blackboard course for tutorials on maximizing your usage! Remember that you can get ebooks and e-audiobooks as well as printed books through your account.

  • The Herndon HS Library provides access to databases on a variety of topics and instructional levels.

To use the databases, passwords can be found on the Herndon HS Library Blackboard course under “Online Resources”. Please contact a member of the library staff if you do not have access.
