The HHS Library encourages life-long learning, a love of reading, and the ethical and effective use of information through our welcoming, guiding, teaching, learning, reading, thinking, reflecting, creating, searching, researching, purposeful information space.
Our books check out for three weeks. We charge overdue fines at the rate of 10¢ per day per book. To avoid fines, students are encouraged to renew books before the due date.
We are happy to arrange to borrow books from other FCPS schools whenever possible. Please see any member of the library staff for help with an inter-library loan.
Passes are required to visit the library during the school day except for class visits accompanied by a teacher. No passes are necessary before or after school.
The Herndon HS Library provides access to databases on a variety of topics and instructional levels. To use the databases outside school, passwords can be found on the Herndon HS Library Blackboard course. Please see a member of the library staff if you do not have access.
Library computers are intended for educational purposes only. Students should be aware that library computers may be monitored.
Students are requested not to have cell phone conversations in the library. Please step outside to make or receive calls. Cell phone use is prohibited during Stinger.
Students are expected to treat library materials and equipment with respect, push in chairs and dispose of their own trash.
